Leon M. Abbott Scholarship

ANY APPLICATIONS AFTER THE DEADLINE DATE WILL NOT BE SUMBITTED. ALL APPLICATIONS MUST BE SUBMITTED IN DUPLICATE WITH ORIGINAL SIGNATURE AND ALL REQUIRED DOCUMENTAITON, INCLUDING AT LEAST ONE SIGNED CONFIDENTIAL LETTER OF RECOMMENDATION.

Named after Leon M. Abbott, Sovereign Grand Commander from 1921 to 1932, the Abbott Scholarship Program provides financial support for the continuing undergraduate and graduate education of Scottish Rite Masons, young men and women from Scottish Rite families, and Masonic-related youth groups.

Eligibility: Those meeting any of the following criteria are eligible to apply for the 2018 Abbott Scholarship program for undergraduate studies:

  • A Scottish Rite Mason of the Northern Masonic Jurisdiction

  • A student directly related (bloodline or by legal means) to a Scottish Rite Mason in the Northern Masonic Jurisdiction or a member of a youth organization sponsored by the Masonic fraternity in the Northern Masonic Jurisdiction who is:

    • A high school senior, a currently accepted at an accredited trade school who has attained a minimum grade point average of 2.75 on a 4.0 scale.

    • A high school senior, or undergraduate, or graduate student currently enrolled at an accredited college or university.

Applications should be submitted to the Valley of the sponsoring Scottish Rite Mason.

PLEASE NOTE: This year we will be using one form for the Abbott and NYSCOD Scholarships.

Applicants who are children of Scottish Rite members will be eligible for the Abbott; applicants who are grandchildren of Scottish Rite members will be eligible for the NYSCOD Scholarships. Either way, they may use the same form.

 

NYS Council of Deliberation Scholarship

The New York State Council of Deliberation Scholarships are open to any NY Scottish Rite Mason, his child or grandchild and any member of the NYS Masonic Youth Groups.

Eligibility criteria are listed as follows:

  • A Scottish Rite Mason of the Northern Masonic Jurisdiction currently enrolled at an accredited College, University, or Trade School having a FAFSA School Code who has attained a minimum grade point average of 2.75 on a 4.0 scale.

  • A Child or Grandchild of a Scottish Rite Mason who is a High School Senior or currently enrolled at an accredited College, University, or Trade School having a FAFSA School Code  who has attained a minimum grade point average of 2.75 on a 4.0 scale.

  • A member of DeMolay, Rainbow, Triangle, or Jobs Daughters who is a High School Senior or currently enrolled at an accredited College, University or Trade School having a FAFSA School Code, who has attained a minimum grade point average of 2.75 on a 4.0 scale.

  • A graduate of one of the Children’s Dyslexic Centers for Children sponsored by Scottish Rite Masons in the Northern Masonic Jurisdiction who is a High School Senior or currently enrolled at an accredited College, University or Trade School having a FAFSA School Code, who has attained a minimum grade point average of 2.75 on a 4.0 scale.

College Scholarships and Financial Assistance to be available for a maximum of four (4) years for students attending an accredited College, University or Trade School having a FAFSA School Code.

Be certain to follow the guidelines on the applications and adhere to all deadlines. We do not want to see qualified candidates’ applications rejected due to clerical errors or incomplete documentation.

Please be certain to use only the current application form. THIS IS THE ONLY FORM TO BE USED THIS YEAR.

Please discard all old applications. Applications submitted on previously issued forms will be returned to the valley submitting them.

Memorial Scholarship Application

2024 APPLICATIONS MUST BE RECEIVED IN THE OFFICE NO LATER THAN JULY 15, 2024. ANY APPLICATIONS AFTER THE DEADLINE DATE WILL NOT BE SUMBITTED.

ELIGIBILITY RULES:

  1. An applicant must be a resident of the Scottish Rite Valley of Utica which covers primarily Oneida and bordering counties.

  2. The applicant must provide a copy of his or her most current academic transcripts or records.

  3. The applicant must submit a letter of recommendation from someone who is not a relative.

  4. Applications will be considered for a grant of up to a maximum of $ 300.00.

  5. All questions must be answered.

  6. Tentative winners will be notified during the summer; however, cash awards will not be made until the latter part of January upon receipt by the Scottish Rite Office of an un-official copy of the student’s transcripts indicating successful completion of fall semester’s work.

  7. All applications MUST be received at the Valley office by JULY 15th.
